How does adopting a dog work?

Send us an adoption application and tell us about your home and the kind of dog you’re hoping for. We’ll call you for a friendly chat, arrange for you to meet a dog, and if everyone is happy, help you plan the move home.

Is there an adoption fee?

We ask for an adoption donation, which helps cover vet checks, vaccinations, microchipping and care while dogs are with us. We’ll go through it with you before you meet a dog, so there are no surprises.

Do you do home visits?

Usually, yes. A home visit lets us give you tailored advice about settling your new dog in and makes sure the match is right for everyone. It’s a friendly chat over a cuppa — not an inspection.

Can I adopt if I rent or work full time?

Very possibly. If you rent, we’ll need your landlord’s permission for a dog. If you work, tell us about your routine — some dogs are perfectly happy with a dog walker or daycare, others need someone at home more.

What if it doesn’t work out?

Talk to us. We’ll offer advice and support first, and if the adoption really isn’t right, we’ll help find the dog another home.
